Sustainable Forestry

Balancing ecological, economic and socio-cultural impact

Sustainable forestry is the management and maintenance of forests according to the principals of sustainable development and economic development that is conducted without the depletion of natural resources. Successfully achieving sustainable forest management provides integrated benefits to all. Reducing rural poverty and reducing carbon emissions are only a few of the benefits. Ranking 28th in the world for biodiversity, it is no surprise that Panama has 21 times more plant species per square kilometer than Brazil.

Increasing the production of sustainable wood products offers an environmentally friendly path to strengthening local economic growth. Our goal is to educate the community of the productivity, regeneration capacity, vitality and their potential to fulfill now and in the future relevant ecological economic and social functions at local, national and global level.
